Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own router to boost the signal?
Last Updated 3 years ago

PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL YOUR OWN ROUTER/EXTENDER/WIRELESS NETWORKING DEVICE. THIS IS A VIOLATION OF YOUR LEASE AND WILL INTERFERE WITH THE WIRELESS SIGNALS FOR OTHER RESIDENTS!

That said, please let us know if you have your own router and would like it installed in your room for a better signal. We would be more than happy to come out and install it for you. As the apartments are very close to one another, we have engineered a very specific wireless solution to provide optimal results for all residents. Because of this, we must be the ones to program your router/extender in order for it to not interfere with the wireless network for your neighbors. Please fill out a ticket with your address and phone number and we will be glad to come out and help. We do advise against wireless extenders/repeaters. These function by taking in the wireless signal and broadcasting it back out to increase the range. However, since the signal must first be taken in, these devices only broadcast at half of the initial speed and consume bandwidth in the process, further decreasing the signal performance. A router capable of being wired directly into the network will act as a much better option.

Don't have a router but want one? We've got you covered. We sell very good routers for $39.95. If you would like one, give us a call or stop by. We are located right across the street at 8771 Macon Hwy in Suite C (Directly across from that big church as you leave the apartments). We will program the router for you at no charge so that all you need to do is plug it into the Ethernet jack in your room and it will start working.
